We invite you to the debate “Energy Security for Women and Men in Poland”, held as part of the Lower Silesian Women’s Congress.

Winter is coming, the heating season has already begun, and geopolitical turbulence has once again pushed the price of gas and pellets past the psychological limit of affordability. For many families, and for older women and men in particular, winter is a time of difficult choices and household budgets stretched to breaking point. It is also the never-ending problem of smog in Polish towns and villages. And yet it doesn’t have to be this way.
Poland is the world’s twentieth-largest economy — a warm home and clean air in winter are the bare minimum we are simply entitled to. Recognising how much is at stake, we invite you to a conversation about:
- the role of thermal retrofitting and electrification in reducing energy demand and securing thermal comfort,
- energy cooperatives and their impact on the availability and price of fuels, and on energy independence,
- the risks of relying on imported fuels, including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and pellets,
- the funding available for a just energy transition in Poland,
- the potential effects of investment in building retrofits on the national and regional economy.
Our panellists:
- Anna Kołodziej – chair of the “Lewica Naprzód” (Left Forward) councillors’ group, member of the Budget, Finance and Investment Committee and of the Architecture and Spatial Development Committee, representative of the Wrocław City Council on the Wrocław Seniors’ Council;
- Justyna Domagała – local activist, Rodzice dla Klimatu (Parents for Climate) movement;
- Magdalena Rozwadowska – Lower Silesian Women’s Congress Association, Wrocław University of Economics and Business, leader of the Energy Leaders Academy project;
- Alina Pogoda – just transition specialist at Polska Zielona Sieć (Polish Green Network), mining and geology engineer;
- Magdalena Kościańska – local activist from the area affected by the Turów Energy Complex, TV Bogatynia.
Moderated by:
- Anita Dmitruczuk – journalist at “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”.
During the debate, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their own experiences.
